New Years Eve Snow

While it may not impress our friends in colder climates, this little bit of snow coming down New Years Eve was two hours of excitement for the kiddos...

Cool! it snowed!

Trying to catch some on their tongues...

They actually were able to catch one or two.

Kayl got one!

Going for another...

Zoo

We made our annual trip to the zoo to see the lights, but only took a couple pictures of the animals - and none of the lights!

The tigers were out enjoying the sun...

...the giraffe's, however, were hanging out inside.

All bundled up - looking inside a heated terrarium.

The Lions were out, but over by the den.

visiting family

After Christmas, we went to Pilot Rock to visit with Mary's family. It was a nice, relaxed visit for the kiddos to see the grandparents.

Kayl & Grandpa Frankie took Tagalong for a walk...

...while Sean and Robb rested and played games.

Uncle George & Uncle Tony came by, and decided to play games too...

...of course, Sean beat them all!

Later, after dinner some more relatives came over and we solved all the problems of the world.

Here's one of Mary & her brothers...

...and one of the whole family.

Christmas Day

Christmas morning, and gone are the days of two little kids jumping on our bed begging for us to get up so they can check if Santa came...

...the little kids will be missed, but the extra sleep is greatly appreciated!

And it looks like Santa did come...

...he ate the cookies, drank the milk, and the carrots and reindeer feed are gone too...

and there's stuff in the stockings...

...and presents under the tree!

Not only did the stocking have some nuts and chocolates in them, but Santa included for each kid these really cute small-size but full-weight hammers, that are awesome for cracking nuts.

Sean got a nerf football - great for both indoor and outdoor play.

Kayl got a pair of fuzzy slippers...

...and she's pretty excited about it!

Sean got a pair too...

...styling!

Kayl got a lime-green scarf...

...like the best thing in the world!!

Some books for dad

...and for mom too.

Kayl really liked this 3-sided, butterfly-shaped earring holder.

Sean really liked this weight training set.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was a time of preparation - we got the house prepared for Christmas morning, we got the table prepared for a Christmas day meal, and we went to church and helped with a service of preparation for the birth of Jesus.

The table is set with our Mickey holiday dishes.

It's a little hard to see in the pic, but the kiddos are watching Norad's 'Santa Tracker' to see where the big guy currently is.

Kayl got a pillow kit, that includes her making "pom-poms" that will be attached.

Our family's tradition is to open only presents from family far away on Christmas Eve - just in case we were to talk with them either that night or early the next morning. This year, that meant presents from the grandparents and cousins...

Sean got this cool Hero factory build...

...who immediately had a 'battle' with another one he got!

The kiddos were pretty excited to see this puzzle - they had played with one at OMZI and loved it.

It's basically the same thing as those little games of moving the ball through a maze without dropping it, but in 3 dimensions inside a ball.

Sean tried to convince me that we should sleep in the recliner and see if we could 'catch' Santa - so we practiced to see if it was comfortable...

...he's so cute!

OMSI

To use up a little time while Mary was at work, and to use our membership one more time before it expired, we went to OMSI.

First up was one of the many educational games...

...then we had to play some more in the space capsule...

...then it was over to the planetarium for a show.

We didn't get any pictures at this point (in part because you can't in the dark, and then in part because I forgot), but the fire alarms when off and we were all evacuated! Half an hour later, everyone was let back in - with no explanations. Some folks guessed there might have been some problem in the chemistry lab...

When we went back in, we decided to go see the animal exhibits...

...pretty cool toad...

...and bugs - magnified!.

This bridge building was pretty neat - it was three-sided!

Lastly, we went through an exhibit on the senses -
here's a pic of the kids in a nose.
